Royalties
You agree not to broadcast royalty based music without written consent from the royalties owner, this consent should also be sent to us.
To play royalty music requires a license, PRS and PPL which both cost money of varying amounts dependant on listener levels. We don’t have funding for to broadcast that material and thus avoid incurring those costs. That said if demand is made and listeners are willing to help fund licensing then we would certainly consider the possibilities. We also welcome outside sponsorship to fund such broadcasting. Get in touch to register your interest.
When broadcasting on our station you give SJB, SJBNetwork and Supernatural World Network (SWN) an unrestricted royalty free license to broadcast, record, store, promote, rebroadcast, brand and distribute any media in original or mixed format. You and all people participating on your show would form as a voluntary team to produce material for our network which in turn promotes you, your team and your group, consider us a community radio station, we are all on the same team.
Language Timothy!!
You must keep obscene language to a minimum, preferably no swearing at all. Keep in mind that we have people of all ages whom listen, we have people from all over the world who don’t always appreciate hearing such things. Try to keep discussions polite, constructive and directed. We’re not all perfect, mistakes happen, we live on but just remember we are a community so we should stick together and respect each other.
Where To Start?
Get in touch with us through our contact forms, we will ask for a demo from you, a good hour to two hour show. You choose the subject, you choose the content. Try not to be to competitive with other shows on our network in the sense that we don’t want to much of the same. Originality is best!
Advertising
To run dedicated servers costs a lot of money, we don’t rely on shared hosting or unreliably cheap hosting which promises the world but fails to deliver a plastic plant pot. We employ a specialist team to manage our servers and keep them running smoothly and when something goes wrong (which will happen with technology) then our team are on the case straight away. Because of this we reserve the right of selling sponsorship and advertising as this is the only way we can cover our costs and because of this we don’t allow shows which are simply about advertising their commercial events even when under the guise of non-profit.
What does that mean?
We don’t want to stop people advertising their events altogether, we just don’t want a show to become an ad fest, we want it to offer value and quality to listeners. So each show you run would be restricted to mentioning and advertising two future events and this must not take up more than 5 minutes in total unless the discussion is regarding history, experiments, theories, etc, etc. In other words not a “buy it now, buy it now” advertisement.
The only exception to these rule is when a charity benefits from over 60% of the net profits, we love charity, we love the idea of supporting charities and so it would be hypercritical of us to stop people promoting charitable events.
If you really want to push your own adverts and still want to feature on our network then consider purchasing a ShoutCast package from SJBHosting. In doing so you support us and help cover our costs, so in return if we syndicate your show we won’t restrict any ads providing they are legal, not vulgar and not offensive.
